How to burn a Data DVD or CD in windows 7?

A data CD can contain music files, documents as well as pictures. A data CD or DVD can store more hours of music in comparison to an audio CD. In case of a data CD, Windows Media Player does not change the file formats before storing them on a data disc. The files are compressed and that means that you can save a large number of tracks, pictures or doc files.

The only disadvantage of burning a data CD or DVD instead of an audio CD is that the data CD or DVD must be capable of playing the file types on the disc. For example, if all of your songs are in the WMA format and your car CD player only supports MP3 files, you’ll need to use another program to convert them to the MP3 format, add the MP3 files to your Player Library, and then use the Player to burn them to a data CD.

  • Open the Windows Media Player
  • Insert a blank CD or DVD
  • Select the “Burn” tab in the player library
  • Go to ‘Option’ and select Data CD or DVD
Burn DVD CD
  • Similar to burning an audio disc, select the files to be burned for the data CD
  • You can reorder the files by simply dragging them or even delete the ones that you wish. Right click on the files and click on ‘Remove from List’.
  • Click on the ‘Start Burn’ option
  • After the burning process is complete, select the “Eject disc after burning” so that the disc automatically comes out from the drive

That is it! Remember to not close the program or shut down your computer while the burning process is on as it may lead to the data getting corrupted.
